play day

yesterday we spent a great part of the day outdoors. at the zoo getting mosquito bites from head to toe, swimming in my parents pool, running through the sprinklers accompanied by a little chalk doodling that ended rather quickly due to a snake spotting. i text rey "eeek, i just spotted a snake!?" "what kind of snake is it and why do you always spot these snakes when i am not around" i hate when people ask "what kind of snake?" does it really matter? a snake is a snake whether it's purple or yellow. it was a black snake for the record. of course the next response is usually"oh black snakes are harmless!" spare me. please. save it for a snake lover. or peta. 

father's day twenty thirteen

yesterday landon and i woke up super early to give rey his father's day card. i carefully instructed him. "ok, hold on to this card with both hands and bring it to dad." i envisioned him tossing the card to the side, grabbing his sippy cup and carrying on watching toy story 2 for the 1,283,933th time. to my surprise he actually listened and delivered rey his father's day card beaming with pride. as soon as rey opened the card landon eagerly pointed out where he had signed his name. so. adorable. we then gave rey his beard trimmer we had carefully picked out the week before. because. what says father's day more than a beard trimmer? and i'm pretty sure ron swanson would approve. we spent the rest of the day having lunch with my dad and swimming and having an early dinner with rey's family. it was a great father's day! i hope you all had a wonderful day with the ones you love! 

dressing

this shirt dress. super comfy. super easy. two things i'm all about. then i put it on and got confused? "is this a dress? is it a shirt? why is it so see through? ok i'll put a tank underneath it. now it's not so see through." i even asked rey "does this look like a dress?" his response was "what does the tag say?" which i think is a neutral response. he clearly didn't want to say dress then i would be all mad and tell him "no, rey! it's a shirt!"or vice versa. i give him props for remaining neutral. however, it still didn't solve my issue. the tag clearly read dress. so after much debate. ok. like 15 minutes of debating with myself. i decided to be bold and wear it as a dress. go big or go home. or maybe go big and go home because you look half naked?

i love a romper. it's one of the few times an adult can wear a onesie in public and it be socially acceptable. that. and it's comfy and easy and kinda cozy. well. it's easy until you have to use the bathroom. then you have to pull the whole thing down and the entire time you are peeing you are praying you did lock the door and no one walks in on you and sees you pretty much naked using the bathroom. "i did lock the door, right, i mean, it looks locked?"

to celebrate landon's actual birthday we took him to the character breakfast at the beach club resort. i knew he would love it. pancakes and goofy? that's pretty much his heaven. he was able to meet donald duck. of course he grabbed his beak and his tail and i was fairly certain we were going to be kicked out due to him accosting a character. luckily he was quickly distracted by bacon and all was well. we then met goofy who is his favorite. right away he grabbed goofy's teeth and kept wanting to hug him. then came minnie, he tried to kiss her. which, now that i think about it makes sense why he now has some sort of eye infection going on. after breakfast we spent the day at hollywood studios meeting buzz and woody. watching disney jr. live and some stunt car show that i'm pretty sure rey wanted to see more than anyone. it was a great day spent with just the three of us.
